How To Measure For Accurate Results

The calculator is only as accurate as your measurements. Measure when fully erect, standing, with the penis pointing straight out:

  • Length: Place a rigid ruler on top of the penis, pressed gently into the pubic fat pad until it meets bone, and measure to the tip. This "bone-pressed" method is what most clinical studies use.
  • Girth: Wrap a soft tape measure or a strip of paper around the thickest part of the shaft, usually mid-shaft, and read the circumference.
  • Take a few readings on different days and use the average. Erections vary with arousal, temperature and time of day.

Survey Data Vs Clinical Data: Why You See Two Percentiles

The calculator shows two rankings because the two datasets measure different things.

The SizeSurvey sample comes from The Definitive Penis Size Survey: 2,545 adult men who measured themselves and reported their numbers. Its average erect length is 6.4 inches (161.5 mm) and average girth is 5.0 inches (127.6 mm). Self-reported surveys run high, because men tend to round up and men who are happy with their size are more likely to take part.

The clinical reference comes from a 2015 review in BJU International by Veale and colleagues, which pooled measurements taken by health professionals from more than 15,000 men. It found an average erect length of about 5.2 inches (13.1 cm) and an average erect girth of about 4.6 inches (11.7 cm). Because a professional did the measuring, this is the more reliable benchmark for what average really is.

If your survey percentile looks low but your clinical percentile is near the middle, the clinical number is the one to trust.

Can You Change Your Percentile?

Most products sold for enlargement do not hold up to scrutiny. Pumps produce swelling that fades within hours, pills have no clinical support, and there is no research showing that manual exercises add length. The one non-surgical method with clinical evidence for lasting gains is penile traction: a device worn for a few hours a day over several months. A review in BJU International by urologists Marco Oderda and Paolo Gontero found that extenders produced an average gain of about 1.8 cm with minimal side effects.

If you want to explore that route, SizeGenetics is the only extender we recommend.

What Is The Average Penis Size?

Based on clinical measurements of more than 15,000 men, the average erect penis is about 5.2 inches (13.1 cm) long and 4.6 inches (11.7 cm) around. Self-reported surveys, including ours, come in higher, at about 6.4 inches.

Can I Compare Two Sizes?

Yes. Enter a second length and girth in the "Compare With" fields, and the visualizer will draw both to scale alongside the clinical and survey averages.

Should I Measure Length From The Top Or The Side?

Measure along the top, pressing the ruler gently into the pubic fat pad until it touches bone. Measuring from the side or underneath gives inconsistent results.

Why Is Girth Optional?

Many men only know their length. The calculator works with length alone, but adding girth gives you a second percentile and makes the visualizer bars reflect your actual thickness.
